Budgeting and financial decision-making in higher education are confusing. However, it doesn’t have to be. This workshop will help social work educators understand and leverage widely used fiscal decision-making models using indigenous knowledge. The result is an increased ability to influence financial decision-making processes and favorably tilt funding decisions.

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate practical understand about differences and similarity of IHE budget models including incremental, formula, zero-based, incentive-based, performance-based, responsibility-centered, and hybrid budget models.
Explore ways to integrate indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing into budget requests using terminology and approaches that are congruent with IHE models but maintain the integrity of the social work values.
Identify ways to integrate knowledge co-production, indigenous knowledge sovereignty into the political social constructs inherent to IHE financial decision-making.
