Julie Taylor Hopkins is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at East Tennessee State University. She earned a PhD in Social Work from the University of Alabama, a MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a BA in Public Policy from Emory & Henry College. Prior to her role at ETSU, she directed field education for a BSW and MSW program, provided student support services at a community college, served in a research role for the Bureau of TennCare, and managed two statewide programs for the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts. Her current research is focused on social capital, social support, and economic support of caregivers of children with disabilities in rural Appalachia.
