Dr. Lauritzen is a licensed social worker (IN) and Assistant Professor at Eastern Michigan University. Her previous academic appointment was at Indiana State University where she served as BSW Program Director and Title IV-E Coordinator. Dr. Lauritzen has worked with a variety of populations throughout her 15 years as a social worker including Therapist for children and adolescents with emotional, and/or behavioral needs, children/adult survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and as a Medical Social Worker. This work has included individual, group, and family therapies. Dr. Lauritzen has served as the Principal Investigator on multiple grants, including a HRSA grant focusing on Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) in partnership with the United Way of the Wabash Valley, and a SAMHSA grant providing SBIRT Training to providers around the nation. Dr. Lauritzen is a trainer for both SBIRT and Motivational Interviewing and has provided these trainings to providers around the nation.
Her current research involves developing a flipped delivery, simulation-focused interpersonal skills course with mini-chapters for each module. Additionally, Dr. Lauritzen has received two grants to research and develop an objective tool for Social Work programs to assess student professional readiness and goodness of fit for the profession, emphasizing the growing need for mental health services and early interventions.
