Javier Segovia, LCSW-S, is a dynamic leader and scholar actively shaping the future of social work education and practice. Currently pursuing his PhD at Our Lady of the Lake University Worden School of Social Service, Javier serves as member of the GADE Student Advisory Board and President of the Worden Doctoral Student Association, demonstrating his commitment to fostering collaboration and advocacy within academic communities. At Our Lady of the Lake University, Javier's contributions extend beyond his academic pursuits. As a Graduate Research Assistant at the Health Equity Research and Observation (H.E.R.O.) Lab, he leverages his multidisciplinary expertise to advance knowledge and promote equity in healthcare access and outcomes. With a rich background in mental health services, Javier brings a wealth of experience as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, case manager, and researcher. He has effectively instructed both undergraduate and graduate courses, imparting his practical wisdom and theoretical acumen to the next generation of social work professionals. Currently employed with The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Javier continues to make meaningful contributions to the field, bridging research, practice, and policy to effect positive change. He earned his Bachelor of Social Work from The University of Texas Pan American and his Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Javier Segovia's scholarly pursuits reflect his unwavering commitment to social justice and ethical practice, as he endeavors to shape the future of social work education and practice.
