Social support has been identified as vital component in buffering workplace distress yet there has been little exploration of how peer relationships contribute to thriving in the social work profession. This qualitative study explored the professional peer relationships of social workers and how these relationships influenced stress and professional resilience.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participant will be able to describe dynamics of professional peer relationships to intentionally consider within their organizations and workplaces.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to identify specific strategies to develop peer support spaces, and invest in collaborative relationships through practice, policy and advocacy efforts in the social work profession.
Upon completion, the participant will create an action plan to build and develop the role of peer support networks in their workplaces to harness for collective action, equity, inclusion and belonging work, and center interprofessional collaboration.
