While experiential service-learning in social work education has sparked increased discussion, there remains limited pedagogical research on high-impact practices as a teaching strategy for competency-based social work education. The purpose of this presentation is to introduce the concept of experiential service-learning as an effective teaching method.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will discuss their insights on experiential service-learning as a high-impact practice within the framework of social work competency-based education.
  2. Participants will identify barriers, challenges, and practical strategies for integrating experiential service-learning into the social work curriculum.
  3. Participants will explore the practical implementation of experiential service-learning within the social work curriculum.
