This panel will reflect on a collaborative autoethnographic project exploring the experiences of women academics with formal leadership roles and different relationships to disability identities. Panelists will discuss the implications of disability and intersecting identities on female higher education leaders personally and at the institutional level.

Learning Objectives:

Define the ways that diagnosis, disability, and chronic illness can impact the leadership journeys of women academics.
Understand the impact systems of privilege, power, and disempowerment have on disabled and embodied people with intersectional identities in formal leadership roles.
Articulate ways that leaders who are sensitive to and affirm the strengths and needs of disabled people can create more accessible, supportive institutions and educational spaces.
