This presentation will explore the issue of religious trauma among Black Millennials and Generation Z and how Black Millennials and Generation Z engage Black faith communities as sociocultural resources in light of histories of harm in a socioecological framework and how it can impact social work scholarship & practice.
Learning Objectives:
Identify and analyze the conceptualization of religious and spiritual trauma, violence, and abuse within the Black Church context among African American Millennials and Generation Z.
Evaluate the impact of religious and spiritual violence and trauma on the participation, confidence, and trust levels within the Black Church among African American Millennials and Generation Z.
Assess the perception of the Black Church and its social and cultural relevance among African American Millennials and Generation Z in the context of adverse religious experiences, and analyze the implications for identity development and help-seeking behaviors within faith-rooted community resources.
