Implementing the Accessibility and Universal Design Framework for Social Work Education

As inaccessibility and ableism are barriers to anti-oppressive Social Work, we will discuss and share a new resource: the Accessibility and Universal Design Framework for Social Work Education and Practice, which offers concrete guidance for social work educators in fostering more equitable and inclusive learning, working, and practice environments.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, the participant will articulate the differences between accessibility and accommodation and explain the need to shift to an accessibility and inclusion lens within the context of social work values and EPAS standards.
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to utilize the Accessibility and Universal Design Framework for Social Work Education and Practice as a tool to support their own journeys to greater accessibility in Social Work education.
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to explain how utilizing a universal design framework can combat ableism and enhance environmental justice by modeling best practices for accessibility in social work education.
