Julia J. Scott (she/her), MSW, is the Assistant Director of EDI Programs at the University of Maryland School of Social Work and an Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression (ARAO) trainer. Born and raised in Northeast Baltimore, Julia's work focuses on developing ARAO and DEI-focused education, programs, and events for the School of Social Work, local organizations, and community spaces. Locally, she serves as an Advisory Board Member, Primary Trainer, and 13th of the Month Event Co-Coordinator with Baltimore Racial Justice Action (BRJA), which works with individuals and organizations to fight against racism & other forms of institutional oppression. Her interest revolves around using the humanities, pop culture, ARAO, and DEI frameworks to approach community building, leadership programming, liberatory education, and healing. Julia earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Morgan State University and her Master of Social Work at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She is a proud Baltimorean who believes that anti-racism and anti-oppression are vital to building and sustaining a Beloved Community.
