Ann Marie Yamada is associate dean of inclusion and diversity and associate professor at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. She is a member of CSWE’s Council on Disabilities and Persons with Disabilities. Her research involves collaboration with public-sector mental health centers to develop or adapt services for Los Angeles’ culturally diverse, underserved, urban communities. She currently researches ethnic disparities in mental health services research with adults experiencing serious mental illness. Her work aims to provide evidence of the effectiveness of involving community-based organizations to reduce stigma and better meet the mental health needs of people who are not using formal treatment programs. She participates as an academic collaborator/evaluator for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health’s Spiritual Care Program and the Access for All underrepresented cultural community committee. She teaches in the MSW program and enjoys mentoring graduate students and early career scholars.
