Sofia is a masters in social work candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, focusing on community management and policy practice. She is the humbled and grateful recipient of the Jane Curtis Parker, Dean E. Smith Opening Doors, and Amy Louise Brannock MSW Memorial awards and serves as a student ambassador for UNC’s School of Social Work. In coalition with UNC's medical school, Sofia co-founded Vot-ER, a nonpartisan, nonprofit that is working to integrate civic engagement into healthcare, UNC's inaugural chapter. Professionally, Sofia serves as a Crisis Response Advocate for the Orange County Rape Crisis Center and leads yoga teacher trainings across North Carolina.
Sofia’s personal, research, and advocacy passions include anti-oppressive social work pedagogy, anti-racist social work practice, and social inclusion.
