Decolonization is central to addressing the Eurocentric paradigms embedded in social work curricula. What is meant by decolonization is a question that faculty members at our School of Social Work continue to unpack. This presentation explores current and future decolonization curriculum praxis centering paradigms of resistance and liberation.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, the participant will be able to describe how the profession of social work continues to be complicit in systems of domination and colonization.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to articulate how to center the voices, perspectives, experiences and scholarship of those harmed by systems of colonization.
Upon completion, the participants will be able to name their own positionality, privilege and identity and discuss how to center truth-telling, reckoning and reconciliation in curricula and pedagogy.
