Dr. Yolanda Machado-Escudero is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work at Auburn University at Montgomery, AL. Her scholarship explores the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender and class identities, and resilience and resistance of immigrant women and their families at risk of deportation. Her teaching and research works are framed by a culturally sensitive, eco-feminist lens, and decolonizing methodologies that aim to increase critical consciousness among students in areas such as environmental injustice, migration, disability, socioeconomic development, education, social welfare policy, and healthcare disparities in Latinx communities.
