Stakeholder’s Perspectives on a Savings Group Intervention for Parenting Foster Youth Survivors of IPV

Youth aging out of foster care are particularly vulnerable to intimate partner violence, in particular economic abuse. For aged-out youth who themselves are parents, building financial knowledge as part of a relationship safety tool kit can be a key intervention, improving economic and mental well-being, parenting capacity, and relationship health.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify particular skill and education needs of aged-out parenting foster care youth who have survived partner violence
  2. Understand individual and structural barriers that limit youth involvement in savings interventions
  3. Pursue a trauma-informed approach to implementing youth-oriented interventions to build financial knowledge and savings skills
