Cherra Mathis is an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work. Her research addresses forced migration, interdisciplinary collaboration between law and social work, and resources and supports for survivors of violence. She uses qualitative methods, with a focus on ethnography and "studying up" as a tool to understand decision-making and responses to trauma in immigration court.
