With the unprecedented levels of violence in schools, the frequency of threat assessments conducted in schools have increased astronomically over the last decade. This interactive workshop will outline the emerging need for social workers to take a leadership role in threat management and the skills/strategies necessary to respond to crises.

Learning Objectives:

  1. 1. Participants will be able to identify the risk factors that elevate the likelihood of violence in schools.
  2. 2. Participants will be able to describe how mental health professionals can enhance threat management.
  3. 3. Participants will be able to list the reasons for moving away from a single assessment to a continuum of care.
