Lisa Wobbe-Veit is a Professor of Social Work Practicum Education at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. Serving as the Assistant Practicum Director, she oversees the practicum experience for Master's candidates enrolled in the Virtual Academic Center (VAC). A faculty member since 2011, Lisa has been instrumental in establishing VAC course materials and practicum procedures, including co-developing a 12-week trauma-responsive School Social Work Training Program. Lisa imparts knowledge across the practicum curriculum, teaching courses such as Virtual Practicum and Integrative Learning for Social Work Practice I/II. Before joining USC, she was a social work faculty at the University of Central Florida.
With over 25 years of experience, Lisa's scholarly pursuits center on mental health and trauma-informed care, with a specific focus on youth and the prevention of school-based violence. As a resident of Parkland, Florida, she serves as a recovery consultant for Broward County Public Schools, extending support to families profoundly impacted by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, Lisa advocates for best practices in disaster preparedness, mental health-informed threat assessment, crisis response, and long-term trauma recovery.
Lisa holds an MSW from Washington University's Brown School of Social Work, with a dual concentration in Mental Health and Children & Families, along with a Specialization in Family Therapy. She earned her BS in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Child Life Therapy from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
