Social work, despite its dedication to social justice, remains one of the lowest-paying professions requiring a college degree. This proposal reviews existing literature to analyze pay differences between social workers and other professions.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to understand the statistical evidence indicating just how low social workers are paid on average compared to other professions.
Upon completion, participants will be able to comprehend the social justice implications of low pay in social work considering the significant representation of marginalized populations within the field's workforce.
Upon completion, participants will learn about the importance of advocacy within social work academia for higher pay for social workers.
