Associate Professor of Social Work, BSW Program Director Trinity Christian College Palos Heights, IL, United States
So many of us teach BSW research in the "traditional" way - quizzes, exams, IRB approval, research study design, data collection, etc. Why?!?! Are we really trying to create BSW-level researchers? What if, instead, we view the goal of the BSW research course as creating stronger critical consumers of evidence?
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to articulate what the EPAS 2022 competency says (and doesn't say) about BSW research skills.
Participants will have opportunity to consider the strengths and weaknesses of current, traditional pedagogical approaches to the teaching of BSW research content.
Participants will be able to describe a new approach to teaching research critique and media literacy to the current generation of BSW students.
