While racial disproportionality in child welfare systems has been well-documented, most of the research in this area is limited to service delivery and to overrepresentation of Black families. This study explores the relationship between public policies and racial disproportionality in child welfare systems with specific regard to Native American families.
Learning Objectives:
Identify potential influences for racial disparities in child welfare
Develop understanding the role of public policies in contributing to or reducing racial disparities in child welfare
Inspire social workers to engage in policy advocacy to promote state policies that endorse socially just responses from child welfare systems.
