Session: Using Technology for Trauma Informed Practice

Trauma-Informed Spaces: Using Virtual Reality to Integrate Trauma Informed Principles Into Agency Settings

This presentation will introduce the Trauma Informed Spaces mobile app. This virtual reality app is designed to educate students on how trauma-informed (TI) principles can be integrated into the physical environments of human service agencies. Participants will learn about its development and how they can use it within their programs.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to discuss how VR technologies have the potential to improve student and clinician learning
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to articulate how the Trauma Informed Spaces VR app can be used to increase knowledge of TI principles and how they can be integrated in the practice setting
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to analyze and understand how the Trauma Informed Spaces VR app can be integrated into their social work program.
