In rural northern Utah, LGBTQ+ youth confront significant health and social challenges exacerbated by intersecting inequalities and limited services and support systems. A community-engaged research project addresses these gaps using a mixed-methods approach to understand needs and inform tailored interventions that aim to foster inclusivity and equity in the region.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will identify barriers to healthcare and support services for LGBTQ+ youth and families in rural communities to develop targeted intervention strategies.
Participants will evaluate systemic barriers and instances of discrimination experienced by LGBTQ+ youth within rural community settings to inform the development of inclusive and affirming environments.
Participants will learn about how to conduct community-engaged research and solution-building to enhance access to health and social support services for LGBTQ+ individuals in rural communities.
