Increasing representation of BILPOC social workers within children’s behavioral healthcare is critical in strengthening the efficacy of interventions for children, youth, and families. This research aims to illuminate the challenges and needs of BILPOC Master of Social Work (MSW) students as they engage in social work practicums with youth at-risk.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will demonstrate an increased understanding of the challenges and barriers encountered by BILPOC MSW students within both their practicum and academic settings.
  2. Participants will understand and begin to engage in collaborative discussion regarding the support and resources necessary to effectively recruit and retain BILPOC social workers within children’s behavioral health.
  3. Participants will both build an understanding of and engage in a collaborative discussion regarding the development and sustainability needs of BILPOC mentoring relationships within children’s behavioral health.
