Digitalization and ICT in Social Work Education: A Scoping Review

Information and communication technologies (ICT) can be harnessed by social work educators to enhance learning outcomes, student engagement, critical thinking, and prepare social workers to use technology in practice. This scoping review reviews the key factors and major approaches related to ICTs and their influence on social work education globally.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the key elements of digital technologies and information communication technologies (ICT);
  2. Demonstrate what peer-reviewed literature says about digital technologies and information communication technologies (ICT) in social work education globally;
  3. Identify the most prevalent ICT and digital technologies in social work education, key facilitators and challenges of ICT and digital technology practice in social work education, and impact of digitalization of social work education.
