This presentation analyzes the pervasive issues of sexual harassment and retaliation within academia, examining current literature and identifying gaps in research regarding polices and interventions in social work education. Utilizing a systemic review methodology, it aims to guide the development of valuable strategies that effectively address and prevent sexual harassment.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participant will be able to highlight the prevalence and impact of sexual harassment and retaliation in academic settings, with a focus on schools of social work, identifying the need for targeted research and policy development to address this issue.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to recognize the interplay of complex factors, outcomes, and antecedents within the academic context that amplify experiences of sexual harassment and retaliation within higher education, with a specific emphasis on systemic vulnerabilities and unequal power dynamics.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to understand a proposed a framework for future research and intervention design aimed at establishing comprehensive and enforceable measures for social work educational programs that ensure a safe and equitable academic environment for all members of the educational community.
