This study explores BSW and MSW students cognitive and affective processes when learning about historical trauma. Survey questions collected student’s thoughts and feelings related to course material that highlighted the history of colonization and treatment of Indigenous peoples in, what is now known, as the United States of America.
Learning Objectives:
To define historical and generational trauma.
To understand students' cognitive and affective processes about historical trauma of Indigenous and tribal peoples.
To recognize that divisive concept bills could prohibit students from learning about historical trauma.
