Social work education in Vietnam is in emerging stage, and field education, a key component of the profession, is a major concern due to lack of qualified field supervisors and field agencies. This study examines risk and protective factors influencing social work students’ motivation to do field placement in Vietnam.
Learning Objectives:
explain the current situation of field education in Vietnam;
examine the impact of factors including (1) supervisors’ availability, (2) students’ opportunity to practice, (3) students’ stress, and (4) unprofessional tasks on students’ motivation to engage in field education in the country;
discuss the implications for social work practice.
