On Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and a Return to Community Practice

This workshop will explore the intersection of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and community flourishing. Tying in research from Maslow's time spent with the Blackfoot nation, we will look at self-actualization versus community flourishing. Participants will gain insights into how to return to a community centered wellness perspective.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the dual perspectives of Maslow and Blackfoot nation's frameworks, demonstrating an understanding of the interconnectedness of individual and community well-being.
  2. Upon completion, participants will be able to cultivate cultural competency by exploring the nuances of the Blackfoot nation's hierarchy, understanding the socio-spiritual dimensions embedded in their worldview.
  3. Upon completion, participants will be able to translate insights from both perspectives into actionable strategies for building and sustaining thriving communities.
