When parents struggle with substance use disorders (SUD) kinship caregivers, who are family members or close friends, often care for children when parents are unable to. The purpose of this study was to explore kinship caregiver needs, family functioning, and social processes used in families impacted by substance use disorders.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify at least three social processes used in families impacted by parental substance use disorder to maintain homeostasis.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe at least three needs of kinship caregivers in caring for and helping children impacted by parental substance use.
Upon completion, participants will be able to formulate at least two interventions to support and advance the human rights of families impacted by substance use disorders and trauma.
