Land acknowledgments have been a hot topic of discussion in recent years. This presentation will answer the question, "what schools of social work have a land acknowledgement and why does it matter?".
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participant will learn of the data collected on which schools of social work in the United States support land acknowledgements on their websites. This will also include data on whether there is a university wide land acknowledgement in those schools of social work.
Upon completion, the participant will gain understanding of an action oriented land acknowledgement. Participants will hear from a faculty member and a student about the difference between action and performative land acknowledgements.
Upon completion, the participant will learn about social work's opportunity for advocacy of land and people acknowledgements.
