The Impact of Hate Incidents on Mental Health Among Asian Americans: Comprehensive Scoping Review

This E-poster presentation delves into the surge of COVID-19-related anti-Asian hate incidents in the U.S., examining their impact on mental health within Asian communities. Focusing on research conducted during and post-pandemic, it aims to comprehensively explore the extent and dimensions of these incidents and their ramifications on well-being.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to differentiate between various forms of anti-Asian hate incidents, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the nuanced nature of these incidents and their impact on affected communities.
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to evaluate the current state of research on anti-Asian hate incidents and their impact on mental health. They will gain insights into existing studies, methodologies employed, and gaps in the literature, fostering a critical appraisal of the field.
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to explore and discuss mental health practice and policy strategies for addressing the impact of anti-Asian hate incidents on mental health. This includes interventions, support systems, and legislation aimed at mitigating the negative impact on individuals and communities.
