Maxwell Sleep-Frankel is a first year Doctor of Social Work Student (DSW) at the University of Alabama. He is studying organizational leadership and has an interest in health disparities among minority groups. In particular, he is interested in addressing the health inequities of individuals with limited English proficiency in the United States as part of his DSW capstone project. He is also interested in the study of anti-Asian hate and the impact on Asian Americans' mental health. He was elected by his cohort to serve as DSW committee member, functions as a Graduate School and School of Social Work Ambassador for the University of Alabama, participated in the DC Fly-In program advocating for social work legislation this past March, and served in the 2024 National DSW Conference committee as a planning member and moderator. In April 2024, Max was the recipient of the DSW Leadership Award at the University of Alabama's School of Social Work Honor's Day. Max is employed the the Veterans Health Administration in the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, where he functions as a Social Worker (Contract Liason).
