Breaking Barriers: Advancing Inclusion for Faculty With Disabilities in Social Work Education

Disability justice, a global human rights issue. Educators with disabilities encounter attitudinal barriers—prejudice, stereotypes, and stigma—despite their equal rights to non-discriminatory practices. Yet, little attention is given to the intersectionality of professional academics with disabilities, including indigenous sovereignty, social locations, and positionality, which this panel aims to address.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to explore the Disability Justice framework and Indigenous Institutional Theory through Courageous Conversations Framework.
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to identify how the Disability Justice framework aligns with the 2022 EPAS.
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to apply the principles of Disability Justice to Pedagogy and Diversity.
