Participants will delve into the underexplored world of field education coordinators, examining research on their pivotal roles in academia. Participants will strategize solutions and gatekeeping management, emphasizing their vital contribution to social work pedagogy. Through interactive methods like surveys and group dialogue, attendees will actively engage in this dynamic session.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to describe the field education coordinator role and describe how the role is integral to successful student field outcomes.
  2. Participants will be able to describe gatekeeping in social work education through historical context and consider anti-oppressive approaches.
  3. Participants will be able to describe reactive versus proactive problem-solving processes within field education.
