Jimmy Lee Beason II is from the Osage Nation and is a professor in the Indigenous Studies department at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS. He is a writer who advocates for decolonization and empowerment among Native communities. Beason has contributed articles and creative writing to outlets such as Mashable, Indian Country Today, Last Real Indians, and Northend Agents. He has contributed a chapter to the edited volume, Indigenous Societies in the Post-colonial World: Responses and Resilience Through Global Perspectives and is the author of Native Americans in History: A History Book for Kids.
