I am a social work faculty at California Baptist University in Riverside, California since August 2018. I was faculty at Loma Linda University, Loma Linda , California from 2001 to 2018.
Some of the courses I teach/taught include both Foundation and Advanced Field Practicum, Childhood Trauma, Advanced Social Work Practice, Social Theory, Social Welfare Policy, Program Planning and Evaluation, Capstone, and Law and Ethics. During my tenure at Loma Linda University I collaborated with California Social Work Education (Cal-SWEC) identifying and preparing Child Welfare social workers and applicants to become professional Child Welfare social workers. I facilitated awarding Title IV-E Stipends toward that end.
I received my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Loma Linda University in 1998 with a concentration in Policy, Planning and Administration. My PhD in 2011, also from Loma Linda University, was in Social Policy and Social Research. My Dissertation was entitled, Understanding How Law Enforcement and Child Welfare Social Workers Collaborated when Investigating Allegations of Child Abuse.
My prior work experience include Riverside County Department of Public Social services from 1980 – 2011 starting as a Foster Care Eligibility Workers, becoming a Child welfare social worker, supervising a combined social work unit ranging from Emergency response to Permanency Planning, to analyzing and implementing policy for both Adult and Children Services Programs
Traveled to Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Angola, Africa
My volunteer services has included the HELPline; United Way of the Inland Empire, Volunteer for Diversity, and Riverside County First Five program for Children and Families
