Dr. Candace Hansford (MSW Professor) received her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in Social Work with a Research minor in 2005, her M.S.W. from the original Carver School of Social Work, and a B.A. in Religion from the University of the Cumberlands. Dr. Hansford has been in higher academia for 19 years, 14 of those teaching in an MSW program. Dr. Hansford is currently an online MSW professor at Liberty University. Her main areas of interests and research are human trafficking/anti-trafficking measures, international social work, human rights, and women and children in poverty. Several years ago, Dr. Hansford conducted a sabbatical where she traveled to over fifteen countries and four continents doing qualitative research with human trafficking case managers. Some of her favorite study abroad trips have been to Thailand, focusing on human trafficking, Costa Rica, and Tanzania. Practice experience has been in international social work and with impoverished women and families here in the states. She is the chair for the Human Trafficking Coalition in her area, and does many trainings over human trafficking awareness and education for hospitals, churches, agencies, denomination conferences, etc. She enjoys presenting at many of the national and regional social work conferences over her own research or conceptual pieces in her research areas. Dr. Hansford loves to encourage and mentor students in finding their callings and impart her passion for learning about global issues and social problems, advocacy, and human rights.
