Dr Joe Duffy is a Professor of Social Work and Inclusion at Queen’s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland who was awarded an All Disciplines US-UK Fulbright Scholarship in 2018-19, the first in Social Work since 1967. As a Fulbright Scholar, Joe’s research concentrated on introducing service user involvement to the social work curriculum in the United States, working with New York University’s Silver School of Social Work and Belmont University’s Social Work Department, Nashville, Tennessee as pilot sites. In New York University, his research focused on working with people affected by the 9/11 terrorist attacks of 2001 and at Belmont, Joe worked with local community organizations whose members contributed directly to classroom teaching based on their lived experiences. Joe's research focuses on themes of inclusion, citizenship and social justice.
