Claire (Seb) Brantley is a current Masters of Science in Social Work (MSSW) student at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville where they are pursuing a clinical track with a certificate in trauma treatment. Brantley graduated Magna Cum Laude with majors in Music and Global Public Policy from Davidson College and has spent time working in politics in Washington D.C., Germany, and Belgium. Their past work has focused on themes such as state-sanctioned violence, power, and comparative politics. After graduation, Brantley shifted from the macro level to micro level by working in behavioral health in residential and school placements.
Brantley began graduate studies with UTK in 2023 and spent their generalist practicum answering suicide and crisis hotlines and participating in interprofessional medical work. Brantley was an active member of the Interprofessional Education and Chronic Illness Management Program where they worked alongside graduate students from local law, pharmacy, and nursing schools to provide support to individuals who reside in local public housing. Brantley plans to continue such work in their concentration year and will be completing their concentration placement at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Brantley is a graduate research assistant with multiple UTK faculty members and currently serves as the president of the Phi Alpha Honors Society Epsilon Iota Chapter. Brantley plans to continue their studies with a PhD in Public Health following the completion of their MSSW. Brantley's primary interests are interprofessional medical work, suicide prevention education, and best practices for interprofessional teams in acute care medical settings.
