Dr. Plummer is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) and Course Coordinator of the Interprofessional Education and Chronic Illness Management practicum in the Pre-licensure nursing program. During her 16 years on faculty at VUSN, she has been responsible for designing and implementing didactic and clinical curriculum at the Prelicensure, Masters, and Doctoral of Nursing Practice levels. Her practice, research, and teaching has focused on addressing health equity through interprofessional collaborations in the community-based setting. Currently, Dr. Plummer is a team member on a HRSA grant to develop faculty skills in creating and implementing simulation-based educational case studies to evaluate student competencies in interprofessional teamwork. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Plummer co-led with Dr. Christian Ketel, the Vanderbilt Mobile Vaccine Program addressing disparities in COVID vaccine access for at risk populations in Middle Tennessee. Their efforts were awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2022. Dr. Plummer’s doctoral work at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center focused on the public health issues of "Community-based Accumulation of Home medications: CACHES" and their association with poor health outcomes for older patients. Dr. Plummer was chosen to be a John A. Hartford predoctoral scholar and, as part of her doctoral research, created an interprofessional coalition of nursing, pharmacy, and undergraduate students, and local law enforcement to provide a bi-annual "Drug Disposal" events in middle TN.
