Courtney Chapman Thomas is a native of Eufaula, AL. Courtney is the Director of Field Education and a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Alabama. Prior to this role, Courtney has served as the Senior Director of The Center for Service and Leadership at The University of Alabama for over 10 years. Courtney is a visionary leader with more than 14 years of progressively responsible leadership experience designing and driving strategy, curriculum, and assessment for community engagement, justice based work, and leadership. Throughout her career she has had a proven ability to conceptualize and deliver high-impact, immersive, cost-effective programming to diverse audiences. She has also demonstrated successful leveraging of both internal and external relationships to increase stakeholder engagement and financial support. Courtney has a strong passion for civic leadership, social change, social justice, and empowering others to be active, global citizens. Courtney received her Bachelors of Social Work from Auburn University and her Masters of Social Work focusing on Global Social Issues of Poverty and its effects on Physical and Mental Health from Baylor University. Courtney received her Doctorate of Social Work in Organizational Leadership at The University of Alabama. Courtney’s research focuses on the corresponding roles of leadership and administration in organizational success and failure.
