Carol A. Leung, Ph.D., LCSW, an assistant professor in the School of Social at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), holds a license as a clinical social worker (LCSW). Prior to working at CSULB, she was a psychotherapist at the Flushing Hospital Outpatient Mental Health Clinic in New York City, primarily assisting immigrant and refugee populations with substance misuse and behavioral health issues. Her research interests revolve broadly around mental health, specifically understanding predictive factors associated with suicidal behaviors among populations at increased risk of suicide. One of her recent projects involves a collaborative initiative with the UCLA Agile Visual Analytics Lab (AVAL) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). This partnership aims to evaluate the effectiveness of youth suicide prevention reporting and crisis response pilot programs conducted through community-based organizations.
