Sarah Sloan has worked as a clinical social worker in agency settings focused on mental health and mental health access for LGBTQIA+ clients for over twenty years. She currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Health Affairs and is a Clinical Associate professor at the University of Texas (UT). She also has a history of working with non-profits, including Austin Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity International from 1996-2002. Sarah has a love for teaching and has been recognized as a Provost's Teaching Fellow and was awarded the President’s Associates Graduate Teaching Excellence Award in 2022. She recently became a member of the Provost's Distinguished Leadership Service Academy. She also served as the chair of the Faculty Council for LGBTQ+ Access, Equity, and Inclusion (Q+AEI). Sarah has a practice in Austin, TX, where she provides therapy, supervision, and consultation. She is licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a board-approved supervisor. Sarah is also a member of the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and is an active community volunteer with organizations that promote social justice in and out of the carceral system. Her professional interests include social work in healthcare, mindfulness, pedagogy, practicum education, mental health, group therapy, supervision, LGBTQIA+ advocacy, and anti-racist practices.
