Marjorie N. Edguer, PhD, LISW-S, LICDC-CS, is an assistant professor at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. She has worked in the field of social work for more than 25 years as a clinical social worker, a school social worker, a school-based preventionist, and crisis hotline worker. She has developed programming for adolescent sexual abuse and trauma survivors; children of alcoholics/drug addicts; children and youth experiencing grief; and universal, targeted, and selective prevention programming for at-risk youth in school settings. Dr. Edguer is co-chair of the Mandel School Curriculum Committee, Director of the School Social Work program, chair of the Substance Use Disorders and Recovery path, and a faculty affiliate of the Center on Trauma and Adversity. She is a 2018 National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) fellow. Dr. Edguer is especially interested in the use of mindfulness practice by social workers, as well as in educational settings.
