Sarah Hyvarinen is an MSW student at Michigan State University. She is also mom to a ten-year-old boy and stepmom to a thirteen-year-old girl. She has been a case manager on the assertive community treatment team at Barry County Community Mental Health in Hastings, MI for the past two years. Prior to that she was a case manager at Thornapple Manor nursing home for eight years. Living and working in Barry County Michigan over the past ten years, Sarah has volunteered with the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School Parent’s Club, the Barry County Great Start Collaborative Parent Coalition, and the Thornapple Manor Auxiliary. As a member of the Parent Coalition, Sarah has helped organize parent education and events for families with young children including Pizza in the Park, Very Barry, Cookies and Canvas, Coffee Chat, and more. Sarah also worked with a small group of parents to launch Barry County Kids on Facebook. The Barry County Kids Page helps connect parents to community events, sports and extracurricular activities, and community resources by gathering all this information in one place.
