Rekala Tuxhorn, BSW, MSW, LMSW (she/her/hers)

Rekala Tuxhorn is currently the BSW & MSW Field Director at Fort Hays State University. She received her BSW from Fort Hays State University (Hays, KS), and MSW from Wichita State University (Wichita, KS). Rekala has been a driving force in helping bring BSW cohort’s to southwest rural communities, allowing students to receive a higher education and remain in their own community. As a practitioner, she has spent extensive time becoming certified in PTSD and relational communities. Her passion is providing mental health services and advocacy for children and families. Her research focuses on program evaluation, field education and advocacy. She remains active in her rural community serving on coalitions and boards for preventive services.
