Santino Camacho is a Gela’ and Queer mixed race CHamoru social work and public health scholar born and raised in the village of Tamuneng on the island of Guåhan. His research focuses on examining how Queer and Transgender Pacific Islander communities generate culturally resurgent practices that resist settler colonial constructions of Indigeneity as forms of culturally-grounded healing and health promotion practices. He hopes his work will improve the wellbeing of his communities and honor the knowledge, cultural practices, and experiences of the QTPI he works with as a community scholar.
