Shannon Trecartin is the MSW Program Director for the School of Social Work at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI and a Research Scientist at the Institute for Prevention of Addictions. Shannon received her PhD in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her core research focuses on the role of the environment (physical and emotional) on psychological well-being particularly for older adults and people with disabilities. Currently, this focus has evolved into an emphasis on the role of spirituality and religion as contributors to well-being. In addition, she is working with a team of researchers to assess the current beliefs and practices of a conservative globally dispersed Christian denomination (Seventh-day Adventists).
