Professor Ramanathan, Illinois State University: social work educator, administrator, practitioner for four decades; presented over 50 papers and workshops in 18 countries; published about 50 refereed articles, book chapters, case studies, co-authored four books; CSWE site visitor; Fulbright Specialist Review Committee. Served on boards: American Citizens for Justice, Salvation Army; facilitated MOU between NASW and Indian Society of Professional Social Workers (ISPSW). Fulbright-Nehru Visiting Scholar, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS); Senior Fulbright Specialist at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (established in 1936) in Mumbai, India; Michigan governor awarded special tribute for contributions to diversity, religious harmony, peace at international, national, and state levels, and contributions to Michigan economic development. In 2020, University of Illinois, School of Social Work Alumni awarded Community Achievement Award. In 2021, received Jim Billups International Social Development Leadership Award, conferred by International Consortium for Social Development; In November 2022, keynote address during 'South Indian Conclave on Psychosocial Care in Disaster Management: Health Sector Preparedness and Response' conducted at NIMHANS, Bengaluru: trained 800 professionals: Government of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Disaster Management Cell. In December 2022, was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award by an NGO (Friends of United States) for dedicating to advance humanity globally through knowledge development, dissemination, promoting student and scholar exchanges, and study abroad programs. In 2023, Professor Ramanathan presented “Anti-Racism: Reflections from a global perspective", CSWE APM, Atlanta, GA; "Role of Spirituality in Advancing Sustainable Development", Canadian Society for Spirituality and Social Work, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
